The State Audit Office accepted the proposal of the Secretariat of EUROSAI Task Force on Municipal Audit (TFMA) and for the first time assumed the role of coordinator of the cooperative audit of TFMA member states.

On 08 June 2021, SAO successfully organized online kick-off meeting on the cooperative performance audit entitled "Municipalities’ own revenues for providing quality services to the citizens during pandemic".

Apart from the State Audit Office, the cooperative audit will be carried out by TFMA member SAIs - Albania, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Slovakia.

Within the planned cooperative audit SAIs will assess the impact of Covid 19 pandemic at local level, by answering the question "Are municipalities' own revenues sufficient to provide quality services to citizens during pandemic?"

Of particular interest will be the comparative analysis of data and findings, i.e. the mechanisms and measures of municipalities in different countries for tackling pandemic consequences, as well as sharing best practice and experience.

Participation in cooperative audits with other supreme audit institutions remains one of SAO priorities that provides for continuous strengthening of auditors’ skills and improving quality of audits.
